True Burger Grand Ave Not Worth It

Updated: Feb 15, 2019

True Burger on Grand Ave is a nice little lunch time burger joint if you’re anywhere near the place.
It’s tucked away off Broadway on Grand Ave and Valdez st. They are currently building a second one on 41st and Broadway.

It’s a cute, small semi busy lunch place. I would compare it to In & Out Burger maybe, with more of a restaurant twist? But I’d prefer In & Out any day. Super pricey for what it is. They have some pretty great milk shakes here though.
I honestly would not make any special trips here for a burger but if I am on that side of the lake and craving a burger during lunch hours, sure.
Otherwise Telegraph has my favorite Oakland Burger. And generally I’d rather walk to Telegraph instead of True Burger.
True Burger can have hard gristle in the meat sometimes and that is a huge turn off for me. I decided a while back never again when there are so many other options.

OUCH. $16.24 for a double bacon cheeseburger with a coffee milk shake from this fast food like place.

They actually make it pretty hard to go here because the hours are so sporadic. They used to be closed Sundays but now it seems like they are closed Wednesdays?

I am glad that someone other than ME is calling out these so-called restaurants that are popping up through out Oakland. I’ve had some pricey burgers, but I have not had a GREAT pricey burger. If it’s not the quality or lack thereof, it is the poor customer service. These places will make you want to stay home and make your own. THANK YOU FOR SHARING.
