Best Earthquake Alert App For your phone
Earthquake – by Red Cross – I’ve tried many free earthquake apps and the best one is actually from Red Cross! It allows you to set up real time data monitoring and select a radius, earthquake magnitude as well as multiple locations.

[insert]NASA Nitrogen Dioxide Map [link]
In this map NASA shows how the air pollution levels of Nitrogen Dioxide levels have been slowly decreasing in the United States over the last several years. The map animation is 2005-2011. The progress is said to be made with stricter car regulations and an increase in Hybrids and Electric cars. This is very nice to see but such a bummer how long we’ve been polluting and killing each other. Another graphic showing that over the course of 14 years Carbon Monoxide levels have decreased. At least for the year this was recorded.
NASA Carbon Dioxide vs Vegetation Map [link]
This map shows the Carbon Dioxide levels(in yellow) and vegetation levels(in green) across the earth over the course of a year. As you can see the earth breathes with the seasons, as the trees die in the winter, so does the ability to offset the pollution from the increase car travel and electric surge due to the winter cold. Unfortunately NASA does not say what year this data is from but they do mention it is taken from the Aqua Satellite using the AIRS(Atmospheric Infrared Sounder) Instrument.
NASA Average Carbon Dioxide Concentration Map [link]
It’s really strange to me that this most recent map contradicts all of the other maps. It shows the data from October 2014 and has the Rain Forest as having the highest concentrations of Carbon Dioxide when all of the above maps showed almost no CO2 in these areas. They do claim this to be due to fires but it’s still quite the opposite of all the data presented above.
Highly Recommended YouTube Channels To Follow
NASA Goddard Official – Caution, only follow this channel if you like really cool geeky videos from NASA.
Suspicious Observers – An amazing channel about our sun and planetary defense system with daily sun / solar weather reports and various space news, earthquake news, new observations and more. I make sure to watch every single episode and I even pay the $20 a year to subscribe to his website where he offers many more “Deeper Look” videos.
Dutchsinse – Weekly Earthquake activity summaries, some predictions, current volcanic activity information, geological sciences and more. A really neat channel to follow. You will learn a lot about this active planet.
Juice Media Rap News – Not for sheep! Only follow this channel if you can think outside of the mainstream media and understand what’s going on. Seriously if you’re a drone zombie you won’t get it / appreciate it. Otherwise this is my very favorite channel on Youtube.
Oakland Temperature Records
Do you ever find yourself saying “when I was a kid it was so much hotter” or “so much colder”. Well it seems it is true and something I have been saying forever. Back in the 80’s I remember freezes for days, heat waves and even a 7 year drought that brought along the Love To Save Water campaigns in the Oakland Unified School District.
I feel we have not had extended extreme weather like we did back then and after checking many records it appears to be true.
Oakland’s Historic Heat & Cold Records
January: 74°F (1/28/84) | 30°F (1/30/75)
February: 81°F (2/26/86) | 29°F (2/05/76)
March: 88°F (3/11/05) | 34°F (3/03/76)
April: 97°F (4/29/81) | 37°F (4/01/76)
May: 105°F (5/12/76) | 43°F (5/05/75)
June: 107°F (6/8/73) | 48°F (6/16/02)
July: 103°F (7/13/72) | 51°F (7/1/75)
August: 99°F (8/6/83) | 50°F (8/17/77)
September: 109°F (9/14/71) | 48°F (9/28/86)
October: 103°F (10/2/80) | 43°F (10/6/07)
November: 84°F (11/2/97) | 36°F (11/29/75)
December: 75°F (12/7/79) | 26°F (12/9/72)

Highest recorded temperature 109°F in September 1971
Lowest recorded temperature 26°F in December 1972
So as you can see the record high temperature and record low temperature for Oakland, CA were set back in the early 1970’s. It seems like most Oakland Record temperatures were set in the 70’s and 80’s. This is because we haven’t even been recording the data for very long and the earth goes through natural swings with or without humans. In fact, it is now proven that the earth’s magnetic poles flip and our planet goes through many ice ages and mini ice ages.

This amazing technology gives NASA the ability to track storms world wide all at once and find weather patterns and trends.

I myself actually subscribe to his website for $20 a year to help support his ongoing research.
When did we start recording weather temperatures?
The United States officially started recording in 1880 but what does that mean? Who was writing it down? From what instruments? A mercury thermometer on a black top? Hanging from the side of a white building? It’s really hard to say.
The US satellites started recording in 1978 so some say any records before then are subject to human error and misinterpretation. I myself know I have multiple digital thermometers in my house and they can vary by as much as 5 to 10 degrees depending on what room or side of the house they are in.
Mind you all the accurate historical weather records that I could find only date back to 1970 and they are from the Oakland Museum location.
These are the best records I can find containing all of the years and months for local weather in Oakland, CA dating from 1970-2011.
Here you can easily compare this day in history for the last 4 years.
California Drought Current Water Levels
Even this current California drought that everyone is so worried about? Is it something new? No.
California is mostly a huge desert and some scientist believe that the state has gone through dry periods of up to 200 years. Yes a 200 year drought. The entire Central Valley only has water because of man made aqueduct system installed to fuel the massive agriculture industry so it is technically always in a drought.
Recent Past Droughts
1928 – 1934
1976 – 1977
1987 – 1992
Who uses the most water in California?
Would you believe it if I told you 80% of the states water goes straight to farming? Can you even begin to imagine how much of that goes to GMO crops? Yes, you read that correctly, most of the California water supply goes straight to GMO farming. Draining the reservoirs and rivers.
People could easily survive in a long term drought period if CA changed laws on it’s agriculture industry.
People living in cities are not draining the lakes, almonds, rice and other crops are. Rice is a huge waster in California because the fields need to be flooded.
Even worse? These old time farmers are grandfathered in to water rates and get dirt cheap water, if they have to be monitored at all. A lot of farmers have ancient systems and there is no official way to measure or meter the amount of water they are using so they can go buck wild and have no repercussions.
Many vegans and vegetarians will make up a number and tell you that it goes to livestock, but you can see the data yourself. Only .5% goes to actual livestock.
They will then head back to Google and come back with the argument that a lot of water is wasted on growing alfalfa to feed the animals. Which falls back on agriculture industry and the alfalfa is less than 10% of the 80%.
Can you guess where most of the water goes? Yup, almonds. So the real problem is the vegans should just start drinking milk and give up their almond milk if they want to save water.
Not only does the almond industry use the most water, the almond milk itself is mostly water.
I just find it ironic they use the water shortage to push their beliefs when they use more water than the milk drinkers.
Of course I’m sort of kidding and trolling the vegans. But it is true that most of California’s water goes to almond production. California is the only US State to produce almonds commercially and California provides 80% of the worlds almond supply. Isn’t that crazy?
We’re wasting all of our water so that corporate almond businesses can sell almonds to China and other countries. Yet they raise our water bills and tell us to save water.
Again, I insist that the state of California MUST change it’s agricultural water wasting ways and instate new laws. Stop taking it out on the people and raising their bills while creating false panic and blaming them. We know where the water really goes.
Please share.
