Back when I was a kid there was an awesome mural on East 12th pretty near the McDonald’s and where the Old Montgomery Ward Building was located.
It read “Oakland Is proud”. And it has stuck with me ever since.

And since I mentioned it here is the old Montgomery Ward Building that was demolished in the 90’s I believe?

I know a few graff writers who were living in the Montgomery Ward building before it was demolished.
As far as the mural, it was Phresh MDH aka DeL85. The pictures don’t really do it justice. The thing was HUGE in person.
And I wish the city would commission another one.

That mural needs to be brought back.
And that Montgomery Ward building was charming as hell in a creepy ass way. You could get cheap hotdogs in there when they were open they were good as a kid.
