Oakland Oscar Grant BART Police Shooting Riots 01/07/09
First I shall say that this post has nothing to do with the actual crime behind the riots. This is not about Oscar Grant or the BART Police officer who shot and or murdered him. People have reason to be outraged, but we have tons more reasons that effect us directly, have been largely ignored and going on for decades. I’m glad at least this got you guys together to speak up.[ad]
But I do I think last night was completely uncalled for.
Don’t get me wrong. I think we should have the right to assemble. But when people start breaking innocent business owners property, burning cars and hurting others… then you can not assemble.
Last night was like a sideshow without cars. Not a protest.
Most of the true protesters went home before all this started.
The kids or youth, whatever you want to call them started gathering and acting fools.
Seems they had a few ill minded ring leaders wearing mask acting as if they were genuine to the cause. I bet they were Provocateur Agents. White people in mask rioting? LOL Definition Agent Provocateur
Yeah sure, some of them could have been genuine and wanting to hide their identity from work or whatever. But read about these agents. They do exist.
We gotta remember, our very own government puts people into crowds to instigate this sort of situation.
If you have masses of people protesting in a peaceful manor then they really can not do anything. They WANT you to act up, they can’t wait for you to give them the green light so they can go in and break you up and discredit your peaceful intent with acts of violence.
So they throw some of these agents in to start the actions and then all the youngsters follow making YOU the protesters the bad guys.

Also…. FUCK THE POLICE? Yelling that over and over? Really? For one, BART Police was involved in this shooting, not Oakland Police. OPD is out there risking their lives so you can be safe. Because trust me, without them you would all be killing each other at much higher rates. This picture here shows a cop stuck doing something I’m sure he does not want to be part of. Because it is his job. To protect us. And last night we needed to be protected from idiots. Business owners are very thankful that the police were there to stop further damage from the “community”.
See what I’m saying here? Don’t fuck up your city cause a few insiders start it off. Stop them. Remain on a peaceful message. Control those around you, isolate the who-riders and let them know they are alone in committing their crimes. All this bullshit talk about “community” from angry “members” of the “black community” then you go destroy your own community. WTF?
What would Ron Dellums do?
Oakland is Proud. Act like it.

Amen, Gerry! That was SO well put and right on the money! We’re all outraged by what happened. But destroying the property of innocent people who support the cause as well does NOTHING but take away from the message. It’s sad. I work in Downtown Oakland and saw people in tears upon seeing their businesses and cars damaged and destroyed. These are working class folk; many of color who are just as angry at the inaction of the powers that be in dealing with this situation. The violent protetesters have hurt Oscar’s family even further by their violence. Even after the family BEGGED no more violence, it continued. The violent protesters are a bunch of loser opportunitsts who don’t give a SHITY about anything or anyone except their twisted, rambling and misdirected agendas. Sad. Thanks for posting this, Gerry.
Bravo! Well written, and throughly applaudable opinion. So glad to see such a civic-minded blog.
You go Gerry! I’m with you, brother!
This blog reflects typical American thinking: the highest priorities are public order, economic growth, and the oppressive laws and law enforcement that ensure the protection of private property. The lives of the “non-productive” lumpen-proletariat mean very little, and police gangsterism is encouraged to intimidate the unwashed.
The reality is that the OPD, like all urban police departments, is full of thuggish police officers who abuse their authority, and degrade and demean the “little people” who pay (some of) their salaries only because they are forced to do so by the exercise of state power. There are no heroes in uniform–only different degrees of violent criminality.
